South Etobicoke Neighbourhoods Overview

South Etobicoke is a thriving, fast-developing and sought-after residential community of more than 60,000 citizens. Located in the far south-west corner of Toronto, it is bordered on three sides by water: to the east is the Humber River, to the south Lake Ontario, and to the west the Etobicoke Creek. Its northern boundary is The Gardiner Expressway/Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW).

South Etobicoke consists of 5 distinct communities — Long Branch, New Toronto, Mimico, Humber Bay Shores and Alderwood. Although similar in many ways, each is unique and appreciated by local residents for its own special attributes.

LONG BRANCH is bordered by two bodies of water: Lake Ontario to the south and Etobicoke Creek to the west. It reaches as far north as the CNR line and as far east as 22nd and 23rd Street. While it was originally established as a country cottage retreat for Toronto residents in days gone by, today it is home to many permanent residents and established businesses including good ol’ fashioned street shopping along Lakeshore Boulevard, two new super-sized drug stores, a full-size supermarket, great ethnic restaurants and several new car dealerships. Best of all, it boasts several waterfront parks with real sandy beaches and amazing recreational facilities! Commuters appreciate Long Branch for its excellent transportation facilities such as the Long Branch streetcar/bus loop, the GO Train station and for its proximity to Brown's Line, the 427 and the QEW.
